Improved create an account page and other cosmetic changes at fabrikade

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Since the launch of a new label in rags2bags and her range of exquisite bags on 13 November, we have been working on improving the create an account page and some slight cosmetic changes to fabrikade.

The most pressing issue is the create a account page. We were not happy with the previous default setup in Zen Cart. We need to simplify it. Yes, never ask for more information that we will actually use. The more information you ask for from a customer, the better chances of them leaving. “Company Details”, “Additional Contact Details” and “Verify Your Age” were removed from the page while retaining the rest solely for shipping purposes.

At about fabrikade page, you will see a couple of images shot during a site photoshoot at Demsey and Portsdown Road we thought you might be interested in. We’ve added Jonathan’s profile so you might just like to know more about the guy behind fabrikade.

If your are a member of the media or owns a blog and would like to feature us, have a look at our press related page. Finally, check out what our customers and fans are saying at the testimonials page.

Thank you for the generous support and we hoped the changes will serve a better shopping experience on fabrikade.

MTV Music - You want it, they have it (almost)

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Just last week, MTV launched MTV Music and literally put its entire archive of music videos online, all embeddable and in high quality. It’s video look and feel resemble another online video service in Hulu. The site layout is simple and has a cannot-miss search function. This is real handy since it is likely that users will want to do a search first.

Not only music videos are aired here but also songs played on shows like VH1 Storytellers and MTV Unplugged. I managed to find most of the music videos I always wanted to watch (U2, New Order and Depeche Mode) but there were missing ones. The site is still very young and it’s likely that MTV will fill in more music videos from the past and present every now and then.

I’m glad that MTV went back to basics and launched MTV Music which solely play music videos and nothing else, online. Prior to this, MTV played music videos almost exclusively in TV networks and broadcasts a variety of pop culture and reality television shows. It was so much different when it was launched way back in 1981 which sole purpose was to play music videos hosted by VJs. So, go on and have great fun exploring the site.

I leave you with 2 music videos close to my heart. Alison Krauss & Union Station’s “Baby, Now That I’ve Found You” and U2’s “With or Without You”.
