Your invitation to Singapore Contemporary Young Artists Projects (SCYA) website event launch

Singapore Contemporary Young Artists (SCYA) is inviting you to their first official launch of their website (www.contemporaryart.sg) at Sculpture Square on Thursday, 6th of Nov, 7pm! Exhibition of website and artworks continues till Sunday 9th Nov, 3pm.

The event will showcase selected artists from 10 different genres in contemporary art practices:

01. Sculpture
02. Painting
03. Printmaking
04. Installation/Site-Specific/Multi-Disciplinary
05. Video
06. Text-based art
07. Performance art
08. Graffiti art
09. Photography
10. Drawing

Besides the mini-exhibition, food and drinks will be served and wine provided by their sponsor, Sevenoaks Wines.

Flea-a-Lot is organising their very first flea market called “The Green Drive”. This event is in support of the Bring Your Own Bag initiative.

Noise Singapore is looking for t-shirt designs, tee-riffic rewards inside!

Noise Singapore logoNow into its fourth year, Noise Singapore is calling for submissions in it’s official t-shirt design competition this season. There is no theme involved but all designs should interpret what Noise Singapore means to you. Noise Singapore logo is not required to be incorporate into your design but if you want to, it can be downloaded right here.

The winning designs will not only be rewarded with cash prizes of SGD$200 - SGD$800, they will be featured online, in print and at the festival showcase exibition March 2009! And one more thing, they will get printed as the official Noise Singapore t-shirts and made available to the Noise community during the festival showcase. Sweet deal and awesome exposure isn’t it?

The competition is open only to citizens and residents of Singapore, aged 35 years and below. Closing date for submission is on the 15 December 2008.

Go to Noise Singapore, look for the competition category that says, “My Noise Tee” and click “View More Details”. You are required to sign up as a participant to submit your work.

This year, the brand new site by Noise Singapore comes with social networking elements that you find familiar in Facebook, Friendster or Behance Network. Participants will have their own personalised profile pages to showcase art works, photographs and music, a blog for them to express themselves with words, and functions to critique each other’s masterpieces.

All in all, it’s a great opportunity to get your design recognised and be rewarded handsomely as well. Good luck and have fun!

project identity 2008 - a public awareness and fund-raising event for the intellectually disabled community in sg

For the third year running, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore is organizing a public awareness and fund-raising event titled Project IDentity 2008, “Bloom a Loving Heart”. This project aims to raise awareness for the intellectually disabled and encourage the public to integrate the intellectually disabled into society.

It will be a day of activites that include stage performances by various bands, dance groups, Kiki the Magician, MINDS Drummers etc., exhibition of our beneficiaries’ art pieces and also fund raising.

Event: Project IDentity 2008, “Bloom a Loving Heart”
Venue: Bishan Junction 8, Level 3, Top of the 8 Open Plaza
Date: 20th July 2008

Revenue earned during the event will be donated entirely to the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled Society (MINDS). These donations will act as financial aid to improve the lives of the intellectually disabled community in Singapore. You may visit MINDS for more information.
